Travel to Europe!

With some of the smallest countries boasting big personalities, Europe offers a step into the new-to-see and historically significant. It’s simple to sample a few destinations at one time with an extensive transport system in the air and on the ground (and by sea!). While living in the UK, I had the pleasure of visiting more than a dozen European countries, which brings this continent together as one of my favorites.

And don’t worry: I have decades of experience translated into personal, practicable and FUN guides below to get you started planning your next European adventure too! -Eileen

Western Europe

Chic cities, alpine scenery, café culture, and storybook villages, Western Europe is often the first image people have in mind when planning a European trip. It’s easy to combine countries here thanks to excellent trains and short travel distances, making it perfect for multi-stop adventures with kids or friends.

Start with France for charming villages and iconic sights, explore fairytale towns and forest drives in Germany, wander colorful neighborhoods and coastal beauty in Italy, or slow down with rich food culture and dramatic scenery in Portugal & Spain.

This is the Europe of scenic train rides, open-air markets, and destinations that feel pulled from a postcard.

Eastern Europe

Eastern Europe surprises travelers in the best way. Fewer crowds, deeply preserved old towns, dramatic landscapes, and cultures that feel proudly distinct from Western Europe.

You’ll find castle views in the Czech Republic, island beauty and ancient ruins in Greece, medieval streets and mountain backdrops in Romania, and coastal gems and turquoise waters in Croatia and Slovenia.

This is where you go when you want Europe without the heavy tourist flow but with just as much beauty and history.

United Kingdom

This region has a rhythm and personality all its own. Historic cities, rolling countryside, dramatic coastlines, and castles around nearly every corner make it ideal for slower, deeper travel. Wander literary streets and historic neighborhoods in England, explore highlands and lochs in Scotland, discover rugged coastlines and castle-dotted hills in Wales, and experience green countryside and coastal drives in Ireland.

Easy train travel and compact distances make it simple to see a lot without feeling rushed.
