It doesn’t matter if you are flying or heading out on a road trip; travel days can be incredibly stressful. However, there are a few small habit changes and new habits you can incorporate to not only make travel days easier, but also eliminate travel day stress completely.

Prepare the Day Before

One of the easiest and best things you can do to avoid travel stress is to prepare the day before. Pack your ALT vape pods, grab medications, have your ducments in order, organize your suitcases, have your travel outfit ready, and do everything in between.

Feeling rushed or like you are forgetting something is one of the leading travel-day stress factors, and simply doing everything the day before will eliminate almost all of that stress.

Write a Checklist

Next, write a checklist for everything you need to do and remember for the travel day. Whether it be taking some drinks from the fridge, watering your plants, or something in between, write it all down before the day.

This gives you a proper list to work through and will prevent the inevitable panic you feel when you think you have forgotten something.

Wake Up Earlier Than Needed

Another small habit that can make travel days easier is simply waking up an hour or two earlier than usual. Feeling rushed can be almost completely avoided if you give yourself an extra two hours to get ready and prepared to leave.

This will also give you more time to handle any last-minute tasks, such as packing some clothes you had in the laundry, making food for the day, etc. Any extra time you can gain before you leave will stop you from rushing and, once again, prevent you from forgetting anything.

Don’t Forget Your Morning Routine

Another step that can really transform your day is to stick to your morning routine. Not only will it prepare you for a day of travel, but it will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

This means having a shower, having a great breakfast, drinking some water, doing some stretches, and everything in between. This is particularly helpful when flying, as you can easily go 15 or 20 hours without access to a shower or time to refresh, etc.

Pack a Bag of Essentials

Whether you are flying or driving, you should always pack an essentials bag. This should include a change of clothes, fresh socks, and underwear, some skincare essentials like moisturizer, a reusable bottle for water, and a few snacks.

If you are flying a long distance and have a layover, washing your face, brushing your teeth, and changing your clothes is the next best thing if you can’t shower.

Have an Empty Bag with You

Another small time is to always have an empty, foldable bag with you. While you may not need it, it is great to have an extra bag with you for carrying some snacks and drinks, souvenirs, or something in between.

Check the Weather

Another habit to get into is to keep on top of weather reports leading up to travel day and on travel day. Not only is it the best way to find out what you should wear and any extras you may need to pack, but it will also help you plan when you get to your destination.

For instance, if you are flying somewhere that gets a ton of snow, you need to be prepared for potential delays when leaving, or have alternative transport prepared if roads are closed or the public transport system stops running.

Avoid Airport Stress

Airport stress can come in a variety of forms, but there are some steps you can take to avoid almost all of them. First off, be sure your bags are weighed to ensure they aren’t overweight, and arrive early to get them checked in and taken off your hands.

Additionally, go through security and get into the departure side of the building as soon as you can, as this will allow you to sit, relax, have something to eat, and not feel rushed to find your gate, get on the plane, etc.

Prepare Your Car the Day Before

If you are going on a road trip, take some time to prepare your car the day before. Considering most road trips start very early in the morning, you don’t want to be up at 4 or 5 am prepping your car for your trip.

Check your tire pressures, oil, and water, give your windscreen a quick clean, pack your luggage, and anything else you may need for your trip. Once again, preparing the day before will limit stress the next day.

Have a Snack Bag

Finally, always have a snack bag when traveling. You don’t always know when you can have your next proper meal, and being hungry or thirsty will ruin your mood in a matter of minutes. Therefore, prevent that from happening.

There is no need to have an entire grocery cupboard on hand, but having a bottle of water, some fruit, and other snacks will curb your hunger and keep your spirits up while on the road or in the air.
